Hello!
My name is Jenny Patterson. I've been longarm machine quilting for over 22 years now! It has been an amazing journey and I have met so many talented quilters along the way.
I have 2 longarm machines. My new machine is a Computerized Juki Miyabi and my other machine is a free-motion Gammill Classic.
My Story
I started longarm quilting over 22 years ago. I was working part time in the evenings at a local quilt shop and the owner had her own longarm machine in the shop. I was so interested in the process of how that machine worked. Not long after I started working at the shop, the quilt shop owner put her longarm machine up for sale. I jumped to the chance and purchased it. At first it was just going to be a little part time gig. I would quilt a little in the evenings and weekends to make a little extra spending money while working a full time job during the day. About 3 months after purchasing the machine I was unexpectedly laid off from my fulltime day job. With that a new opportunity presented itself. I decided to pursue longarm quilting full time. With the help of the quilt shop handing out my business cards a having me do their quilt shop samples and many repeat customers, things got busy real fast. Before I knew it I was quilting full time! I've been super busy ever since and now 21 years later I'm still going strong with my quilting business.
I just recently purchased a computerized longarm machine which is the most fantastic machine! I download digital quilting designs from the internet to the machine, set up the quilt on the machine and set the digital pattern up within the quilting software and then the computerized longarm precisely stitches the pattern onto the quilt.
Of course I'm still running my free-motion longarm machine while my computerized machine is busy stitching. Free motion quilting is exactly like it says. I control the machine by moving it with my hands doing whatever free motion or custom design that my customer has chosen.
So with 2 machines running I've decided to advertise more, get on Facebook and Instagram and start my new website! I want my customers to have a place to go to online to look at my patterns and get information about my quilting services.
I'm also offering customers a Mail-In option for their quilting. If they are not local, they can mail me their quilt and once it's done then I will mail it back. Of course my local customers can meet me as usual at the local quilt shop.
